It is a successor of our proven system, EMU- Classic. During the EMU lifetime vast amounts of data has been collected and used to upgrade the device hardware and software. \n \nEMU Black targets race cars, road cars, motorcycles, and boats. The EMU Black controls fueling, ignition and auxiliary systems on 1-12 cylinder engines including directly controlling those with drive-by-wire throttles VVT and CAN-BUS communications. It can drive up to 6 passive or 12 smart coils directly and does not require external igniter modules. \n \nSupports up to 8cyl full sequential injection. Sophisticated drive-by-wire strategies provide a wide range of throttle control along with advanced plausibility (fault/error) checking for safety. The system capabilities continually increase over the time due to easily-upgradable, free of charge firmware (eg. new strategies, trigger patterns, CAN data streams) \n \nUPGRADED features from EMU CLASSIC \n \nENCLOSURE \nEMU BLACK bespoke enclosure is made from CNC machined aluminium. The enclosure \ndesign guarantee high immunity to mechanical damage, water resist (IP65) and very good \nheat conduction from electronic components. \nAdditional hole through the enclosure provides mounting point. \nAt the front of the enclosure there is a micro usb sealed connector for PC communication \nand MAP sensor connection \n \nPCB \nEMU BLACK utilize 4 layers PCB board and most of components are SMD type (except \nconnectors) and coated with special surface protecting the board and components from \nmoist. Due to design, the device is extremely immune to the vibration. \nDevice is assembled according to IPC-S-815A standards on fully automated assembly line \nwith optical inspection to ensure highest possible quality. \nCarefully electronic components selection allows proper device operation in very wide \ntemperature range (-40C to 105C) (AECQ-100 GRADE2) \n \nANALOG INPUTS \nEMU BLACK has has two additional analog inputs in comparison to regular EMU. Total: 12 (6 AUX, 3 switch, 3 dedicated) \naddition to this each analog input has software selectable pullup / pulldown (4700Ohm). \nFor CLT and IAT inputs the pullup resistor is 2200Ohm and could be disabled via software. \nThat allows easy sharing temperature signals with OEM ECU when connected in parallel. \n \nSWITCH INPUTS \nEMU BLACK introduces 3 digital switch inputs that could be used for activating strategies by switching input to the sensor ground. \n \nTRIGGER INPUTS \nThe input circuit for trigger inputs was redesigned. For each trigger input (Primary trigger, \nCAM#1, CAM#2 and VSS) pullup / pulldown could be selected (4700Ohm, 1000Ohm, \n820Ohm) as well as analogue filter level (none, low, medium hall). \nPrimary trigger input could be HALL or VR (software selectable). For VR sensor the adaptive \nlevel could be changed (low, high). \nFor CAM#1 and CAM#2 inputs the reference voltage could be defined in separate 2D tables \nin function of RPM what greatly improves noise immunity for VR sensors (the higher RPM \nthe higher trigger voltage threshold) \nFor VSS sensor VR or HALL sensor type could be selected. \n \nFLEX FUEL INPUT \nEMU BLACK introduces separate input for Flex Fuel sensor ( regular EMU uses CAM#2 or VSS input for this purpose). \n \nIGNITION OUTPUTS \nIgnition output circuit was redesigned especially the driver of active coils. \n \nEMU BLACK \nsupports active and passive coils (software selectable) It is possible to drive 2 active coils from one ignition output. In addition to this when active coils are selected for connected passive coils no damage occurs. \n \nH-BRIDGE \nThe stepper outputs of regular EMU were replaced by two state of the art bullet proof H-BRIDGEs with over 6A continuous current (3A for regular EMU). It allows to control stepper motors, electronic throttle, VVT as well as any solenoid with current draw lower than 6A (low and high side drive possible) \n \nDBW \nDue to high current capability of built in H-BRIDGE, EMU BLACK is able to control directly \nelectronic throttle (no external module required). Moreover the control strategy was \nimproved (two times higher update rate, defined PWM frequency from 1000Hz to 8000Hz) \nto allow higher precision of throttle control. For safety reason the DBW strategy works on 2 \nseparate processors and any malfunctioning in one of them causes throttle limp mode. \n \nAUX OUTPUTS \nTotal 6 AUX outputs of EMU BLACK have built in fly-back circuit for precise control of solenoids. Unused injector and ignition OP's can also be used for Aux OP functions. \n(in regular EMU external diodes are required for PWM controlled solenoids).
