SubiNats 2026: The Free Subaru Event Every Enthusiast Should Be At

SubiNats is back. After a year off, the Subaru Nationals return to Sydney Motorsport Park on Saturday 10 October 2026 - and here's the part too many people don't know: it's completely free.

No ticket. No gate fee. No paid parking. Just drive in, park up and spend the day (and the night) surrounded by hundreds of Subarus doing what they do best - looking sharp, going fast and making that noise.

Whether you've been to every SubiNats since 2014 or you just bought your first WRX, here's everything you need to know.

Yes, SubiNats is really free

We'll say it again because it's the best thing about the day: SubiNats is free to spectate. The organisers confirm there's no cost for spectator entry and plenty of free parking on site.

Think about what you usually pay for a day at the track - entry, parking, the lot. At SubiNats, that's zero. Which means there's no excuse not to bring the kids, your partner who "doesn't get it", or the mate who's been eyeing off a WRX for six months. Let the cars do the convincing.

What is SubiNats?

SubiNats is Australia's national Subaru event - a full day of motorsport, display cars and community, built by Subaru people for Subaru people.

It started in 2014 at Wakefield Park, moved to Phillip Island for a few years, and has called Sydney Motorsport Park home since 2018 - where the track lights let the action run well into the night. The 2024 event marked ten years and was the biggest yet, with more than 300 cars on display and nearly 400 Subarus rolling out for a sunset parade lap.

After sitting out 2025, it's back for 2026. And it's still run entirely by volunteers from the Impreza WRX Club - a not-for-profit that puts the whole thing on for the love of the platform.

What's on at SubiNats 2026

SubiNats runs from 7:30am to 10:30pm, so there's something happening all day. Here's the line-up:

Roo Racing Show & Shine

The heart of the event - and it's already full. Every spot is taken, so expect rows and rows of Subarus, from concours-level GC8s and immaculate Spec-C STIs to modified Foresters, Levorgs and BRZs, all parked up for you to walk, gawk and talk to the owners. More on this below.

GFB Supersprint

A Subaru-only Supersprint on the Gardner Circuit, kicking off at 7:30am. Get there early to catch the first cars out - there's nothing like an EJ on full song first thing in the morning.

Pakelo Lubricants Shotgun Shootout

Competitive skidpan racing from midday, complete with a passenger element. Tight, fast and very watchable.

Skidpan passenger rides

Want to be in the car rather than watching it? Passenger rides on the skidpan are just $10 per person (12 years and over). Pre-book through the SubiNats events page - they're one of the most popular bits of the day.

Pro Speed IAG Roll Racing

The night-time headliner. From 6pm, cars go head-to-head under the lights. If you only stay for one thing after dark, make it this.

Parade lap

One of the best sights of the day - hundreds of Subarus lapping Sydney Motorsport Park together.

Auto Avenue

Trade stands, merch, parts and entertainment. It's where you'll find the businesses that keep the Subaru scene running - us included.

The Show & Shine is full - and that's great news if you're coming to watch

All 350 Show & Shine spots for 2026 have already been snapped up! That tells you everything about the field you'll be walking through: a full line-up of owners who wanted in badly enough to lock it in early. In 2024 the display topped 300 cars - this year, there wasn't a spot left.

And it's a proper mix. Stock, modified, mid-build, daily drivers and full show cars. It's the best place at SubiNats to pick up build ideas, find out who did whose paint, and meet people who are just as obsessed as you are.

The best part? Walking every row costs you nothing. No entry fee, no parking fee - just turn up and take your time.

Missed out on a spot this year? Come anyway. Walking the rows is the best research you'll ever do for next year's entry - and the owners are always happy to talk about their builds.

Why we're backing it

We're Subaru people. We drive these cars, we break these cars, and we make the parts that fix them. The Show & Shine is where all the late nights in the garage finally get their moment - and we reckon that deserves more than a spot on the program. That's why we've put our name on it this year, and why we'll be there all day cheering on every entrant.

We'll also have show bags for sale for $20 & $50, both options will be packed with gear and all proceeds will be supporting the Black Dog Institute.

Tips for your first SubiNats

• Get there early. The Supersprint starts at 7:30am and the best Show & Shine cars draw a crowd fast.
• Stay late. The roll racing under lights from 6pm is worth waiting for, and the event runs until 10:30pm.
• Pack for a full day. Hat, sunscreen, water and comfy shoes for the day - a jumper for when the sun goes down.
• Bring ear protection for little ones. It gets loud (that's the point).
• Pre-book your passenger ride. $10 for a skidpan ride is the best-value thrill of the day.
• Bring a mate. It's free. You've got no reason not to.

Do I need to be in a car club?

Not to spectate. You only need club membership to hold a Speed licence for the competitive track events.

The Impreza WRX Club Inc. (NSW), a not-for-profit, 100% volunteer-run club.
