Get your shift together!

The difference is in the details and that beat up boot just isnt it.

Replacing your tired gear shifter boot is one of the easiest and most satisfying upgrades. Anyone can do it, yes, even you.

At Roo Racing we don’t sell parts unless we truly believe in them. So I put it to the test, DIYing our new shifter boots so you can see first hand how I approached the mod.

Remove Your Centre Trim

Step 1: Start by popping off the plastic surround that frames your shifter. Use your trim removal tools to gently lift the edges—this stuff is usually clipped in, so take it slow and don’t crack anything.

Remove The Old Boot

Step 2: Flip the trim over and unscrew or unclip the old shift boot from the mounting bracket. Some boots are held in with a plastic ring, others just stretch over the frame.

Glue On Your New Boot

Step 3: Apply a thin bead of glue around the inside edge of the bracket or ring. Slide your new shifter boot over the mount and press it into position. Use pegs or clips to hold it while it sets (check your glue for drying time).

Reinstall It All

Step 4: Once dry, pop the whole setup back into your center console. Make sure the boot sits cleanly around the shifter and the trim clips back in snug.
